Titling Vehicles
New Purchases: 1986 and Newer
You will need:
1. Previous Owner's Title
2. Georgia Drivers License reflecting correct address
3. Georgia Insurance electronically submitted to DMV's Website or a declaration page or 30-day binder if insurance on the vehicle is less than 30 days old
4. Other Supporting Documents indicating a name change, inheritance, liens, etc
***Normally, a dealership or lien holder will apply for the title and send/give the receipt to the buyer. Bring this receipt, along with insurance information to us so that we can either issue a new plate or transfer an existing one.
Please note:
*** Effective January 1, 2006 - GA Sales Tax - When applying for a GA title for a vehicle that was purchased from an out-of-state/country dealer or business, GA sales tax must be paid at the time of application or proof that the tax has already been paid submitted. A GA title & license plate will not be issued until any GA sales tax due is paid. The amount of sales tax due is based on the vehicle's purchase price or the vehicle's fair market value if a sales invoice is not submitted. Sales tax must be paid to the Bryan County Tax Commissioner by cash, credit card, debit card or certified funds.
New Purchases: 1985 and Older
You will need:
1. Georgia Title if the seller provided one
OR
Bill of Sale, including VIN number, year model, make of vehicle, date of sale and signatures of both buyer and seller
2. Georgia Drivers License reflecting correct address
3. Georgia Insurance declarations page or 30-day binder for this vehicle or electronic submission of insurance if policy is more than 30 days old
4. T-22B form to verify VIN number if VIN number does not come up in the GRATIS system or chain of ownership has been broken

Leased Vehicles
New Lease
1. A copy of the lease agreement or an MV-1 with lease section completed by dealership and Georgia Drivers License reflecting correct address
2. Georgia Insurance declarations page for this vehicle if it is a new purchase or electronic submission of insurance if purchase date was more than 30 days ago
3. Georgia Insurance declarations page or 30-day binder for this vehicle or electronic submission of insurance if purchase date was more than 30 days ago

Moving From Out of State
1. Copy of Out of State Title in the name of the leasing company (when applicable)
2. Out of State registration with copy of lease agreement
3. A Power-of-Attorney authorizing lessee to sign on behalf of leasing company
4. Georgia Drivers License reflecting correct address
5. Georgia Insurance binder if policy is less than 30 days old
6. If GA Insurance Policy was issued more than 30 days ago, insurance must be electronically submitted to GA state database before vehicle can be registered.
*** PLEASE NOTE: ON VEHICLES LEASED OUT OF STATE, SALES TAX MAY BE DUE, DEPENDING ON YOUR LEASE AGREEMENT.
Out of State Vehicles
Titles without a Lien holder
You will need:
1. Out of State Title
2. Georgia Drivers License reflecting correct address
3. Georgia Insurance
Out of State Vehicles
Titles with a Lien holder
You will need:
1. Copy of Out of State title if available or Original title if previous state was a non-title holding state
2. Correct name & address of lien holder
3. Out of State registration in applicant(s) name
4. Georgia Drivers License reflecting correct address
5. Georgia Insurance downloaded to state database or GA Binder if policy is less than 30 days old

Military
OOS - Out of State
You will need:
1. OOS title or copy of OOS title if available and current out of state registration if title is held by lien holder
2. GA Insurance
3. Current driver's license
4. Proof of address (bill, lease agreement, bank statements)
5. Active Duty Military ID
6. Serviceman's exemption affidavit signed by commanding officer if Georgia is not your home of record
Title from a Foreign Country
You will need:
1. All Overseas Registration Documents
2. All Shipping Documents including Form HS-7 from the Port master
3. If vehicle was purchased overseas, a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin must be provided to register
4. T-22B Certificate of Inspection
5. GA DL or Out-of-State DL if active duty military
6. Serviceman's exemption affidavit signed by commanding officer if Georgia is not your home of record
7. Active duty military ID
