County Government Structure
Commissioner – Administrator (Bryan County)
The Board of Commissioners is ultimatey responsibility for policy making and executive decisions concerning county government. The Board secures advisory assistance in this policy making role and administrative assistance in an executive role for day to day operations through a county administrator. The level of authority at which a county administrator operates differs from county to county. The county administrator normally has direct control over department heads and the approved county budget. The board of commissioners has the authority to appoint or remove the county administrator.

Meetings & Hearings
Meetings of the board of commissioners are the “action” part of the commissioner’s work. They make decisions to set county programs in motion and authorize expenditure of county funds. The board is referred to as the “governing authority”.
The Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month beginning at 5:30 p.m. The meetings are held in Pembroke and Richmond Hill on a rotating basis, odd numbered months are in Pembroke and even numbered months are in Richmond Hill. The deadline for the Commissioners’ Agenda is the Wednesday prior to the meeting by 12:00 p.m.
