1.

WHERE DO I VOTE?

Each voter must vote at the polling place designated for the precinct in which the voter lives.  If you are in doubt as to the location of your polling place and you have Internet access, you can visit our Website www.sos.state.ga.us and use our Poll Locator to find your polling location and directions to the same; or you can contact the board of registrars of your county.  The number is 912-653-3859.

2.

HOW DO I VOTE?

Go to your polling place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on the day of the election.  When you arrive at your polling place, you will complete a voter’s certificate, which asks for your name and address.  You will then present this to the poll officers who will verify that you are a registered voter in that precinct by checking the voter’s list for the precinct.  If your name is found on the list, you will by issued a ballot or admitted into a voting machine to cast your vote.

3.

DO I HAVE TO SHOW IDENTIFICATION WHEN VOTING?

Yes.  Effective January 1, 1998, you are required to present identification at your polling place prior to casting your ballot.  There are 13 acceptable types including:  drivers license, government id, passport, employee id, student id, military id, certified birth certificate, certified naturalization document, and court certified copies showing adoption, name change, etc.  The precinct card sent to you to acknowledge your voter registration is not acceptable id.  If you are unable to produce any of the required id types, you will be provided with an oath to complete in place of id, and you will then be allowed to vote.

4.

HOW DO I CAST MY VOTE?

Instructions on how to vote a ballot or operate a voting machine are posted at each polling place.  In addition, you may ask the poll officers to explain how to vote the ballot or operate the voting machine.

Caution:  If you vote for more than one candidate for the same office, your vote will not be counted for that office.

5.

WHAT DO I DO IF I MAKE A MISTAKE OR SPOIL MY BALLOT?

If you damage, spoil, or erroneously mark your ballot, you may return it to the poll officers and obtain a new ballot.  If you are voting on a lever voting machine, if you push the big lever to open the curtain, you CANNOT correct your mistake.  You must ask for assistance before opening the curtain.

6.

HOW CAN I RECEIVE ASSISTANCE IN VOTING?

If you need assistance in voting due to your inability to read or because of some physical disability which prevents you from reading or marking your ballot, you may ask someone to assist you in voting.  You may select anyone to assist you other than your employer, an agent of your employer, or an officer or agent of your union.

7.
