The American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) is responsible for all emergency communications between service members and their families.  All casework is handled through various case management centers throughout the USA.

If the caller lives in the Savannah Chapter area: Springfield Case Management Center      1-888-737-4306

If the caller is out of our immediate area: Call their local Chapter of the American Red Cross by checking in the local phone book or www.redcross.org and enter their zip code for local information.

Health & Safety Services

Courses in CPR, First Aid, Automatic External Defibrillation, Pet First Aid and Babysitting name only a few of the courses available through American Red Cross Health & Safety Services.  Classes are offered throughout our tri-county area, and private courses may be set up for organizations.  Courses are taught for a nominal fee, for a complete course listing, call 912-651-5371 or visit www.savannahredcross.org.

Disaster Services

The Chatham Branch employs the service of hundreds of volunteers to assist with victims of disaster.  Disasters may occur on a small scale, such as a single family house fire, or much larger scale, such as a flood or hurricane.  If a disaster does occur in our community, the Bryan County  Disaster Action Team (DAT) members will be there to assist the victims by meeting their immediate disaster caused needs, such as, food, clothing, and shelter.

These same Disaster Services volunteers are also trained to open shelters, assess damage in a disaster area, and provide for the needs of mass amounts of disaster victims. More volunteers are always needed, and disaster service training is always free.  If you would like to volunteer with the Bryan County DAT team, call 912-651-5321 to schedule a new volunteer orientation.

The American Red Cross also trains our neighbors in Bryan County on how to prepare for disasters.  Community Disaster Educators are available to give presentations on everything from how to prepare for tornados, hurricanes & floods to what steps you can take to prevent the spread of Pandemic Flu. Call 912-651-5311 to schedule a presentation or visit our website and request a speaker from our speaker's bureau.

Blood Services

The Southern Blood Region serves our tri-county area and organizes blood drives and blood donor recruitment.  The local Account Manager can be reached by calling: 866-611-7137.  Their office is located at 25 Tibet, Savannah, GA 31406.

International Services

The American Red Cross works with a global network of Red Cross, Red Crescent and equivalent societies to restore hope and dignity to the world's vulnerable people. This international Red Cross movement brings emergency relief to disaster victims, and improves basic living conditions of those in chronically deprived areas of the world.

On a local level, the American Red Cross maintains a list of volunteer translators that help us deliver our services to those who might not get help because of language barriers.  Our language bank consists of translators that speak over 25 different languages from Arabic to Yugoslavian.
